Sample Wording - Remembrance Note

Remembering MCPOCG Charles L. Calhoun

CPOA DC Chapter

Remembrance Package Presentation Procedure

  • Sympathy Card - complete any appropriate, commercially available sympathy card.
  • Remembrance Note - use sample wording for the Remembrance Note. Print onto mini-letterhead (available from Remembrance Committee Chairperson). Load mini-letterhead facedown with seals toward your end of tray. Then it's a careful trimming at the paper cutter and voila!
  • Coast Guard Standard (flag) - 8" x 11" CG Standard is usually presented.

1. Greet next of kin by telling her/him you have a sympathy card and note from the Chiefs of the Chief Petty     Officer Association at CGHQ in Washington, DC.

2. Read the note (not the card).

3. Give the note and card to the next of kin when done reading and salute her/him.

4. Post the flag, salute, do an about-face, and walk away. Or whatever seems appropriate.

5. If you plan to give her/him the flag and not post it, the note will need to be changed.
