Leadership Series Event 1: David Wright, David Zoby, and Elisa Carbone

Washington, DC Chapter – Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association

Overview

The Washington, DC Chapter of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association (CPOA) has scheduled authors David Wright and David Zoby (aka "The Davids") and author Elisa Carbone to speak. The forum would be within the auspices of the Chapter's Leadership Series. It's interesting to note the forms of leadership that appear in the Pea Island story. The intent is for today's Coastie to learn from leadership examples of those who have gone before us.

A diverse cross section of Coast Guard Headquarters personnel are invited to attend, from junior enlisted up to the Coast Guard Commandant. The intent is for today's Coastie to learn from leadership examples of those who have gone before us.

A few special guests (e.g., association leaders and other authors) have been nominated by Elisa Carbone and others and invited by the Chapter to be formally recognized at this event. These guests are encouraged to bring for display any artifacts (e.g., documents, charts, photos, or gear) related to the U.S. Life-Saving Service and/or leadership that might interest a Coast Guard audience. If unable to participate, they can send related material.

  • MCPO Keenan – recommend speaker for Leadership Series Event 2 (e.g, Paul Newman, Tom Clancy, Steven Kuntz (sp?), John Amos (sp?), and Robert Duvall).

  • BMC Allen – obtain from publishers copies of both books to sell (48 cc Storm Warriors; 40 cc Fire on the Beach).

  • CPO Tull (7-0999) – determine process for access to building by authors and special guests; and capacity of Rm. 2415.

  • CPO Tull (7-0999) – arrange parking for authors’ 2 vehicles (C-Level? James Creek Marina?).

  • Need volunteer – pick up John Galluzzo, Director, U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association (USLSSHA), history@ziplink.net – at Union Station, 31 JUL 01, 1245 for delivery to CGHQ.
