CPOA President's Outstanding Chapter Award – Mentoring

Mentoring

  • CPOA chapters – use the following procedure and contacts to develop your own CPOA President's Outstanding Chapter Award (POCA) application. Get the recognition your chapter deserves!

  • POCA - Annual Award

Procedure

  • Copy/print point system and award criteria– from CPOA Operations Manual Section VI, Para. 2.
    http://www.uscgcpoa.org/4-all_hands/4-all_hands_index.htm

  • Establish a POCA application committee so that Secretary does not develop this important document alone.

  • Begin early – if 01 JUL is first day of 1-year qualification period, then begin on 01 JUL to plan activities and assemble documentation.

  • Use point system and award criteria as outline for POCA application.

  • Organize tabs according to this outline into a POCA application binder.

  • Assemble (throughout the year) supporting documentation behind each tab of POCA application binder. Documentation can include copies of The Chief magazine articles; newsletters; flyers; thank you letters; photos; copies of donation checks; CPOA Convention rosters of chapter delegates; Website printouts; Silver Life Time Member lists from The Chief; meeting agendas/minutes. Impact statements must explain supporting documentation.

  • Remember – presentation can be as important as content, so make it easy to read and attractive.
